FAQ

Is this an authoritative DNS query?
No — it queries Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, the same kind of lookup your browser or operating system performs. It reflects what that resolver currently has cached, which is usually accurate but isn't the same as querying the domain's own nameservers directly.
What data is sent, and where?
Only the domain name and record type you enter are sent from this app's server to Cloudflare's resolver. Nothing else about you is transmitted for this lookup.
Why do some record types come back empty?
A domain simply may not have that record type configured — an empty result for CAA or SOA, for example, is common and not an error.
